Novastart is an operating system interface built around an infinite canvas instead of a traditional stacked-window desktop. Apps open as live windows that can be placed anywhere, resized, arranged, and viewed by zooming across the canvas. Users can create multiple canvases and folders for different projects, save workspace layouts, and restore apps and positions later. Novastart also gives AI agents independent cursors and keyboards so they can work in application windows without taking control of the user's pointer. Agents can plan tasks, recruit helpers, click and type through real interfaces, and be paused or redirected by the user. Team collaboration allows multiple people to share a canvas, use separate cursors, and interact with live application windows running on different machines. Novastart works through an app on Windows and Mac or as an Ubuntu package, while supporting web apps, bundled Chrome, ONLYOFFICE, and Linux applications.
Desktops hide work in stacked windows and force people and AI to share one pointer.
Novastart puts live apps on an infinite canvas with separate cursors for people and AI.
