Links is an open-source, local-first AI research workspace for capturing and connecting information without cloud sync. It stores notes, links, documents, images, audio, and transcripts inside isolated project spaces called pots, keeping originals intact while saving AI outputs as separate derived artifacts. Data is stored locally in encrypted SQLite databases and an encrypted asset store, with hashing, deduplication, and an audit trail for traceability. After capture, a background worker processes content into structured layers such as tags, summaries, entities, and relationships, and supports per-pot chat based on the material in each pot. AI features run via OpenRouter using a user-controlled API key and model selection, while non-AI capture, organization, search, and export/import work offline. The system includes a desktop app, built-in browser, browser extension, and a local API/MCP server for integrations.
Messy research is scattered across tabs, notes, and files, losing evidence and context.
Local-first workspace to capture, organize into pots, and derive AI-linked insights with provenance.
Researchers, analysts, legal casework, builders, serious knowledge workers
