HardMode is a Chrome extension designed to reduce doom scrolling by blocking user-chosen distraction sites. After selecting websites such as social media, news, or video platforms, users can enable HardMode to hard-redirect those tabs to a blocked page rather than showing confirmation prompts. The extension tracks how often it prevents visits and estimates reclaimed time, turning those metrics into visible progress through XP, levels, streaks, and achievements. It also includes a weekly report, an achievements page, and a new tab view that displays current level and total time saved. Users can add custom sites, toggle preset lists, and use pause or focus-session controls. Scheduling options allow blocking to run only during chosen hours, with path exceptions for allowing specific pages while blocking the rest.
