What is Chessie?
Chessie is an Android app that lets chess players scan a physical or on-screen chess board using their phone camera and instantly analyze the position with the Stockfish engine. Once a board is scanned, pieces and squares are detected automatically with no manual setup required. The app then surfaces up to ten candidate moves ranked by strength, along with evaluations and lines to help players understand what is happening on the board. All analysis runs locally on the device, meaning no internet connection is needed and game data never leaves the phone. Chessie is designed for players who want a fast, private, and portable way to review positions, study tactics, and improve their rating without relying on cloud-based tools or subscriptions.
