Brain Bed is a free, open-source macOS menu bar app designed to help developers manage cognitive fatigue from heavy use of AI coding assistants. It monitors local session logs from Claude Code, Gemini CLI, and Codex CLI and computes a real-time Brain Fry Index (0–100) based on factors like message velocity, number of active sessions, time of day, and dismissed alerts. When the index reaches higher-risk stages, Brain Bed issues context-aware notifications explaining what is increasing cognitive load. If the Brain Fry Index spikes, it can lock the keyboard and switch the screen into a guided meditation experience with breathing cycles, classical music, and rotating quotes to enforce rest. It runs locally without API keys or cloud processing.
